The book has been praised for its honesty and rawness in depicting Tanek’s struggles with addiction, depression, and unconventional sexuality.

Tanek has also written several other books, including Chipped Black Nail Polish, a collection of short stories about life on the fringes of society, and Your Kinky Friends, a non-fiction book about alternative lifestyles and sexual practices. He hosts a podcast by the same name, in which he interviews people involved in BDSM, kink, and other alternative lifestyles.
