I'm a 66 year old electronic engineer of 40+ years professional experience. My father started me in electronics when I was around 12.

I've designed lots of commercial products including life safety electronics, some shipping millions of systems.

Currently I'm telecommuting for a company in Hawaii, engineering systems to support mass transit.

I've always been kinky though kind of a late bloomer I suppose. Didn't really get going till I was 50.

My interest in the violet wand was fairly immediate, though at the time I couldn't afford to get one.

I'm not sure how many I actually own these days. :)

I do most forms of electrical play, knives, fire, and I do and teach laser scarification.

As I progressed, I saw a lot of misinformation online, some that I strongly suspected was bullshit and some that I KNEW was bullshit.

Every vendor (and I am one of them) has an interest in selling their product of course, and we can argue endlessly about "which XYZ is BEST", but I felt compelled to call out misinformation, especially when someone could be harmed by it. When I'm vending at events it's not unusual for me to spend more time educating one on one than actually selling product. That's just part of who I am.

Electrical play is edgeplay, which by definition cannot be "SAFE" (you are extremely unlikely to accidentally be harmed) but it can be "safer" (you are very unlikely to be accidentally harmed). The more you know the better.

The subject of X-Ray production by certain violet wand electrodes has been talked about for at least 20 years without any hard data, so I spent a significant amount of money to acquire the equipment and experience to resolve the issue to the best of my ability, and I've documented it on Fetlife fairly exhaustively. I show my work and I cite references. Anyone who wishes to do so can independently verify my observations. I don't do "Argument from authority". Some will use that approach, usually starting with something like "I've been doing this for 20 years and...." Well, if you've been wrong for 20 years, you're still wrong!

I have always tried hard to speak accurately about what I know, and to honestly answer "I don't know" if that's the case.

I promote the products of my competition when I feel it's appropriate, and I have always avoided directly competing with other vendors.

Those are ethics that I owe to my customers, and anyone who I speak to on the subject.
